After graduating with honors from St. Mary’s High School in 1987 and attending the University of Notre Dame where Shane graduated with a BS in Biology/Pre-medicine, he pursued his interests in law enforcement. Shane completed the Pike’s Peak Regional Law Enforcement Academy in 1995 and started with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office upon completion. While there, he was selected as both a Training Officer and a member of the SWAT team. He excelled in both positions and was able to earn a position in the Countermeasures Advanced SWAT course taught by members of the FBI SRT teams. His team was extremely proactive in the area of Active Shooter after the Columbine disaster. Shane’s SWAT team was charged with training all of the patrol officers in Colorado Springs, CO, and maintaining great relationships with the local community schools.

After several years on patrol, Shane was promoted to the rank of Detective. He maintained his position on the SWAT team and developed a great reputation as a training officer and interrogator. Eventually, Shane was selected to join the Colorado Springs Metro Vice, Narcotics, and Intelligence Unit as an undercover detective. While serving with the El Paso Deputy Sheriff’s Office, Shane earned his graduate degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. During his career at the sheriff’s office, Shane received numerous commendations and was awarded the Medal of Valor.

In December of 2003, he accepted a position as a Security Operations Supervisor overseeing security operations at the Al Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad. Shane managed 144 Gurkha soldiers and all of the security operations related to an access point into the Coalition controlled Green Zone.

In February 2004, he was offered a position conducting executive protection for the Director of the Project Management Office in Iraq. Shane maintained that leadership role of managing a 12-man Protective Services Detail (PSD) team operating throughout the country until the contract was assumed by another contracting company. At that time, he was recruited to become the Director of Security for the new company (Aegis Defense Services). Shane was responsible for as many as 1000 personnel at times and directly supervised a site protection force of 300 people to include 179 Iraqis and 103 Gurkhas. The remainder of his personnel were former British soldiers that served as his supervisory staff.

After two and a half years of operational experience in Iraq, Shane opted to return to the States where he currently serves as a Security Operations Specialist on a team that performs Antiterrorism Vulnerability Assessments at US Army facilities around the world. His team also provides training to senior level military and civilian personnel on a multitude of terrorism and law enforcement topics during our assessment visits.

Shane brings with him a tremendous amount of operational experience in basic law enforcement skills, SWAT techniques, plain clothes operations, protective services, vice and narcotics, vulnerability assessments, and training tactics. This diverse professional background provides XTC customers with extensive hands-on experience in areas more commonly needed in our daily campaign against terrorist activities and acts of terror in the form of active shooters in our schools and other public areas.
